πΒ We are so excited to have you here! Over the next six weeks, you'll work with a small team to build a real-world web application, all while learning how to use AI as your creative coding partner. This page is your home base for everything you need to succeed.
Program Overview
BuildLab is a hands-on engineering program where you'll direct AI agents to build features, review their output, and ship a working product with your team.
You and your team will be given a scaffolded "Community Hub" app and a set of feature tickets. Your job is to use agentic coding tools like Codex to turn those tickets into working features, taking the app from a basic skeleton to a fully functional product. You'll learn how to give an AI agent clear instructions, evaluate and refine the code it produces, debug when it goes sideways, and ship features as part of a real engineering team.
What You'll Learn
- Agentic AI Development: How to direct an AI agent that understands your entire codebase: writing prompts that produce working features across multiple files, not just single code snippets.
- Full-Stack Web Development: How to build features that span the frontend, backend, and database, understanding how the pieces connect even when the agent is writing the code.
- Reading & Evaluating AI-Generated Code: How to critically review what an agent produces: catching hallucinations, identifying logic errors, and knowing when to accept, revise, or reject its output.
- Team Collaboration: How to work effectively in a small engineering team using industry-standard tools like Git, GitHub, and pull request reviews.

π₯ Weekly Rhythm
Each week looks similar. Hereβs what you can expect:
- Mondays: All-hands live session (45 mins) with a skill injection and sprint kickoff.
- Tuesday - Thursday: Async, complete the lessons for this that week
- Wednesdays/Thursdays: Mid-week standup (15-20 mins) with your facilitator and team.
- Friday - weekend: complete your ticket! It is due Sunday at night at 11:59 PM ET.
- The rest of the week is for you to work on your ticket, collaborate with your team, and get help from your facilitator.
